The session of the Serbian Parliament faced multiple interruptions due to the use of smoke bombs, flares, and physical confrontations between government and opposition MPs, along with water bottles and eggs being thrown.

A significant altercation occurred around 2 PM when smoke bombs were released, flares ignited, and an opposition MP activated a fire extinguisher. The opposition MPs targeted government representatives with eggs.

“Deliver the eggs to those in need, such as Dunja Marković’s family,” declared Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić.

“You are nothing but thugs and a terrorist gang; when will you understand that no one fears you?” asserted Brnabić.

Opposition MPs displayed banners that read: “Your hands are bloody,” and “Corruption kills.”

Meanwhile, government representatives showcased Serbian flags from their side of the hall.

The assembly’s first interruption happened around 11:20 when opposition MPs left their seats and initiated pyrotechnic displays.

This chaos erupted after the agenda was approved and while ministers began to enter the hall.

Opposition MPs then moved toward the speaker’s podium, lighting red and black smoke bombs and displaying a banner that proclaimed, “Serbia is rising up so that the regime falls.”

According to a Beta agency journalist, the smoke from the pyrotechnics permeated the parliament chamber.

Government MPs retaliated with shouts of “Ustasha” while proudly holding Serbian flags.

Confusion ensued, with both sides exchanging water bottles, and reports from N1 indicated that one MP was injured in the head.

“Through hard work and struggle, we will prevail. It’s revealing to see your true natures. You aim to seize power with tear gas,” remarked Brnabić, noting that a Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) MP, Jasmina Obradović, was shot in the head and required emergency medical attention.

“MP Jasmina Obradović is in critical condition due to a shock bomb thrown at her,” claimed Brnabić.

“Shame on you! Let Serbia witness your actions. Keep whistling while the woman’s life hangs in the balance. Inhumane,” the Speaker added.

She accused the opposition MPs of being akin to Albin Kurti’s subordinates.

“You can only halt us from performing our duties through violence,” she directed at the opposition.

“It would be more noble to offer those eggs to a family in distress, rather than act out of arrogance and desperation,” commented Brnabić.

Brnabić further revealed that MP Sonja Ilić, who is eight months pregnant, “is in shock and fighting for her baby’s life.”

N1 reports that police have been deployed to the assembly hall due to the incidents, and students alongside citizens are gathering outside the parliament building.
