In January, the average salary before taxes and contributions, as reported by Monstat, was one thousand euros, which reflects a 0.8 percent decrease compared to December of the previous year.

However, the average net salary saw a significant increase of 22.6 percent compared to January of the previous year.

The average gross salary in Montenegro for January was 1.2 thousand euros.

“Considering that consumer prices increased by 1.2 percent in January compared to December of last year, it indicates that real wages for the same period experienced a decline of two percent,” the report stated.

Average net earnings in January experienced month-on-month growth in several sectors, including: agriculture, forestry, and fishing with a rise of 5.5 percent; transport and storage at 4.4 percent; health and social protection at 4.3 percent; construction with an increase of 3.3 percent; wholesale and retail trade, along with repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles at 1.2 percent; mining and quarrying increased by 0.7 percent; and electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply saw a 0.6 percent rise, while manufacturing and accommodation and food services each recorded a minimal increase of 0.1 percent.

Conversely, a reduction in average earnings before taxes and contributions was observed in several sectors compared to the previous month. The most significant drop was in information and communication at 11.6 percent, followed by professional, scientific, and technical activities at 6.7 percent, and water supply, wastewater management, and similar services at 5.8 percent.

Further declines were noted in administrative and support service activities at 3.8 percent, state administration and defense with mandatory social security at 3.5 percent, financial activities and insurance at 2.8 percent, education at 1.5 percent, real estate activities at 0.7 percent, other service activities at 0.4 percent, and artistic entertainment and recreational activities at 0.3 percent.
