Montenegrin Youth Volleyball Team Advances to Semifinals at MEVZA Tournament
The U18 men’s volleyball team from Montenegro made an impressive start at the MEVZA tournament in Zadar, securing two dominant victories that guarantee their spot in the semifinals. They are set to face their final group stage match on Saturday, where they’ll compete for the top position in their group.
Under the guidance of Coach Dejan Radić, the team first triumphed over the Croatian side Ribola Kaštela with a score of 3:0 (25:20, 25:18, 25:20), followed by another commanding victory against Trenčín from Slovakia with the same scoreline—25:21, 27:25, 25:20.
Throughout both matches, the Montenegrin players demonstrated resilience and showcased a high level of play. They established an early lead against Ribola Kaštela and confidently managed the match to a close. In the second match, they experienced a tougher challenge as the Slovak team put up more resistance, particularly in the second set. However, the young athletes maintained their composure, ultimately securing the win.
Luka Lojić was among the standout performers, netting 15 points in the first match and 14 in the second. Vuk Stanojević also shined, scoring 13 points in the opening game and leading with 16 points in the subsequent match. Additionally, Vasilije Milenković contributed significantly with 12 points in the first match, while Jovan Drešić added 10 points in the second.
Montenegro’s final group stage encounter will be against the Hungarian team Kecskemet on Saturday at 14:00, as they strive to claim first place in the group.
