Extraordinary VPSCG Assembly Session on October 14: Board of Directors Commends Water Polo Teams and Acknowledges Swimmers’ Progress

The Board of Directors of the Water Polo and Swimming Association (VPSCG) has chosen to disregard expert recommendations pertaining to water polo and swimming and has acknowledged the resignation of the Association’s president, Đur Marić.

During the recent Board meeting of VPSCG, it was resolved that an extraordinary session of the Association’s Assembly will take place on October 14 in Podgorica.

The Board of Directors viewed the senior water polo team’s qualification for the Olympic Games in Paris as a significant achievement.

“The Board expressed its pleasure that all three of our teams reached the semi-finals in this year’s major events, ultimately securing two medals,” as mentioned in the VPSCG press release.

The national team representing Montenegro finished fourth at the U16 World Championship held in Malta, while the U18 team achieved third place at the World Championship in Argentina. Additionally, the Montenegrin national team secured second place at the European Championship for U19 players in Bulgaria.

Furthermore, the Board of Directors recognized the commendable progress made by Montenegrin swimmers.

Miloš Milenković set a new Montenegrin record by improving the time in the 100-meter butterfly by one second at the European Championships in Belgrade.

As reported, the Board is pleased with the resolution reached concerning the Premier division of the Regional Water Polo League (RVL), which will be contested as a league this competitive season, featuring Primorac and Jadran M:tel.

The announcement also highlighted that the inclusion of Budućnost from Podgorica in senior water polo competitions serves as an excellent incentive.

Budućnost will compete in group B of A1 in the RVL, alongside another Montenegrin club, Katar from Kotor, as well as Serbian clubs. Meanwhile, Budva Budvanska Riviera will be in group A, competing against clubs from Croatia and Branik from Maribor.

“The decision to dissolve the Expert Council for water polo and the Expert Council for swimming was unanimously approved, along with the decision regarding the arrangements for the smooth conduct of water polo and swimming competitions until new governing bodies of the VPSCG are elected,” the announcement stated.

Additionally, the report outlining the financial status of VPSCG was ratified during the session, confirming that all obligations have been fulfilled and that there are adequate funds available for fundamental operations until the year’s end.
