Montenegro’s Match in Baku Ends in a Draw, Marić Calls Conditions Inhumane

The Montenegrin women’s national football team opened their Nations League C campaign with a draw.

In Baku, Mirko Marić’s squad ended the match against Azerbaijan with a score of 0:0, despite appearing closer to taking home the victory. They might have been affected by an early penalty decision when Armisa Kuč was fouled…

Misa had a promising opportunity in the first half, while Jasna Đoković posed a threat on two occasions, but the score remained unchanged.

“The playing conditions were harsh – the cold, the pitch, and a two-hour delay in the game… Congratulations to the girls for that. I believe we were the superior team, showing more than Azerbaijan did. This level of commitment and approach should serve as a model for every match. Now, it’s crucial to rest and prepare as thoroughly as possible for our next opponent,” Marić stated.

Montenegro will play their next Nations League match on Tuesday, facing Lithuania at the stadium near Gorica.
