Budva Residents Set Armchair Ablaze

For the second consecutive year, the Feral and Friends society is hosting a carnival, a term reminiscent of the 1920s, as documented by the city chronicler Anzulović.

The Feral society highlights that what sets the Budva festival apart from similar events in the area is that they do not burn a specific human figure; instead, they choose a symbol representing what they perceive as the root of evil and the source of the city’s troubles.

“This year, the focus was on an armchair, embodying the false patriotism it represented. In keeping with the Mediterranean tradition, the lively society organized a delightful performance featuring renowned Montenegrin actors. After the symbolic figure was burned, the community was invited to enjoy traditionally prepared pasticada accompanied by the melodies of the Toć ensemble,” shared Feral.
