Dodik’s Decision: An Undemocratic Move Leading to Political Instability in BiH

Upholding the Dayton Agreement and maintaining peace are crucial for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the ruling against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, introduces political instability, stated Andrija Mandić, the President of the Parliament of Montenegro and the leader of the New Serbian Democracy.

“Adhering to the Dayton Agreement and ensuring peace is vital for BiH and the surrounding region. The ruling against the President of Republika Srpska undermines the efforts to maintain Dayton and contributes to political instability in BiH. Divergent views and interpretations should not restrict the citizens of Republika Srpska from exercising their right to vote and to be elected,” Mandić expressed on X.

He emphasizes that the fundamental democratic principle is that only the people have the authority to elect or dismiss their representatives.

“When actions like this are forcibly executed, it undermines democracy. Therefore, the ruling against the President of Republika Srpska is an unnecessary precedent that is fundamentally anti-democratic, attempting to forcibly exclude an individual from politics and obstructing the policies for which they have earned the public’s trust. I hope that all involved parties will find sufficient mutual understanding to tackle these issues with minimal harm to the citizens while respecting President Dodik’s basic human rights, which are threatened by such actions,” Mandić stated.
