The opening 10 minutes and 10 seconds of the match between Montenegrin and Spanish water polo teams determined the outcome in the second round of the World Cup tournament.
The reigning world champions established a 5:0 lead in that crucial phase, paving their way towards the next tournament in Podgorica.
The “Sharks” managed to narrow the gap to 7:4, creating a sense of tension, but Spain effectively maintained their comfortable advantage.
“It felt like Spain’s goal was enchanted during the first two quarters. I don’t think we should feel too disheartened about our performance. We studied them, and I believe we countered some of their top plays effectively. However, falling behind 5-0 makes it quite difficult to recover. We started connecting later in the match, but it wasn’t enough. It’s disappointing, but I think it’s unrealistic to think we could have triumphed over the world champions,” remarked Vasilije Radović.
Next up is the match against Serbia on Saturday at 17:30.
“We are not here to make calculations or pick our opponents. We approach every game with the intent to win, just as we did in the first two matches, and we’ll continue to do so in the next three,” stated the young Jadran player.
