The Municipality of Tivat, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, has once again ensured free transportation for all students from Tivat who commute to primary and secondary schools in Tivat, Kotor, Budva, and Herceg Novi. This is applicable for those using regular city, suburban, and intercity transport on routes exceeding two kilometers, in line with the Decision on the participation of transportation costs.
As clarified by the local administration, students residing within the Municipality of Tivat, who attend schools located five or more kilometers away and utilize suburban and intercity transport, are eligible for transportation cost support.
The subsidy scheme allows primary school students to receive 60% of their ticket price covered (with the Ministry covering the remaining 40%), while secondary school students can benefit from an 80% subsidy (with 20% covered by the Ministry).
“Students who live within the Municipality of Tivat and attend school within a distance of two to five kilometers are entitled to a 100% subsidy on the cost of their student tickets while using urban and suburban transport. Applications for transportation cost participation must be submitted to the public educational institution, either primary or secondary school,” stated the Municipality.
It was further explained that by the 15th of each month, students or their parents/guardians must provide proof of ticket purchase (payment slip) to the respective school. The school will then enter the necessary information (student’s name, travel route, bank account details, ticket price, and the Municipality’s contribution percentage) into a table and submit it to the Secretariat for Social Affairs by the 20th of the month.
