“We are closely monitoring the serious allegations made by female employees regarding instances of abuse and mobbing attributed to Mr. Gredić,” remarked independent MPs Jevrosima Pejović and Radinka Ćinćur, in context of claims from COTEE employees.

“Such conduct poses a direct threat to the dignity, work rights, and mental well-being of women, and must be addressed without delay,” Pejović and Ćinćur emphasized in a statement.

They underscored that every woman is entitled to a workplace that fosters respect, safety, and the opportunity to reach her full potential.

“In a society where, regrettably, there has only been one conviction for mobbing in the past five years, it is crucial to convey a strong message that violence and mistreatment are unacceptable in any institution,” Pejović and Ćinćur stated.

They stressed the need for careful consideration in appointing individuals to high-ranking positions, asserting that ignoring such allegations and providing party protection equates to endorsing violence against women.

“We urge the competent authorities to thoroughly and impartially investigate all claims and take decisive action to safeguard women, thereby restoring their trust in justice and institutions. We firmly believe that combating mobbing is essential for upholding the dignity and fundamental human rights of every woman in Montenegro,” concluded Pejović and Ćinćur.

An employee of the state-owned Montenegrin Electricity Market Operator (COTEE) recently initiated legal proceedings for protection against mobbing due to the prolonged inappropriate conduct of director Mersudin Gredić, disclosed her attorney, lawyer Nina Radulović, to “Vijesti”.

In response, Gredić asserted that this exemplifies the misuse of the right to protection from mobbing to sustain particular positions.

The Women’s Rights Center announced on July 1 that following the publication of an article on the Vijesti portal titled “She has endured yelling and insults for nearly a year – an employee at COTEE initiates a procedure for protection from mobbing,” they were approached by five women who claimed that at various times and locations, they experienced mobbing and other forms of violent conduct by Gredić.
