Indictment Filed by Podgorica Prosecutor’s Office Against Pakistani National in Indian Citizen Kidnapping Case.
The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office (ODT) in Podgorica has issued an indictment against Pakistani national ZA, suspected of involvement in the kidnapping of five Indian citizens.
According to the statement from the Podgorica ODT, “The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica has charged Pakistani citizen ZA with the criminal offense of kidnapping in complicity, which allegedly took place in December 2024 in Podgorica. He, along with an unidentified accomplice, is accused of fraudulently abducting five Indian citizens, then unlawfully detaining them through force and threats in an attempt to extort money.”
In February, authorities in Danilovgrad apprehended two Pakistani suspects related to the kidnapping of the Indian nationals.
The Police Directorate revealed that the kidnapped individuals were held captive in a Podgorica residence for three days while their captors demanded a ransom.
During the investigation, police discovered a small PVC bag with a substance believed to be marijuana during searches of the suspects RT and AZ, leading to a misdemeanor charge against AZ.
The police stated, “Following discussions with the Basic State Prosecutor in Podgorica, RT and AZ were taken into custody on suspicions of kidnapping, reportedly using physical force and threats with cold weapons and firearms to unlawfully detain five Indian citizens for three days in a Podgorica house, during which they extorted money from them. After obtaining the demanded funds, they allegedly compelled the victims to cross the state border of Montenegro illegally.”
