Balijagić Appears at the High Court Hearing in Bijelo Polje
Alija Balijagić, the prime suspect in the murders of his siblings, Milenka and Jovan Madžgalj, that occurred on October 25th of last year in the village of Sokolac, Bijelo Polje, was presented at the High Court in Bijelo Polje today.
The court will assess the indictment against Balijagić during a scheduled hearing.
Balijagić faces a potential sentence of up to 40 years in prison for aggravated murder and illegal possession of firearms.
He was apprehended near Priboj in Serbia after evading law enforcement for nearly a month, following a comprehensive manhunt across Montenegro and Serbia.
During his statement to the prosecutor, Balijagić confessed to the killings of the Madžgalje siblings, claiming he shot them with a hunting rifle through a window while they were watching television, unaware of the impending danger.
The panel led by Judge Dragan Dašić will review the indictment against Balijagić, who has a history of serving more than 30 years in prison for various offenses.
