Shortly before the commencement of the 42nd session of the Kosovo Assembly, the building was evacuated due to a security directive, following a reported bomb threat.
Several members of parliament present in the hall exited promptly, while journalists covering the session were also instructed to leave the premises.
Assembly staff were evacuated as well.
Former Parliament Speaker Gljauk Konjufca stated that security officials had relayed they received a telephonic threat and took action in accordance with security protocols.
The Secretariat of the Kosovo Parliament confirmed they had been notified by police regarding the bomb threat.
“The police informed us they received a report of a possible bomb in the Parliament premises. Consequently, the evacuation of the building was mandated. Everyone is now outside,” the announcement read, advising media to reach out to the police for further details.
No official comment has been made by the Kosovo Police, although special police units have arrived in the vicinity of the Parliament.
Radio Free Europe (RFE) previously reported that the Kosovo Police had instructed MPs and other individuals in the Parliament building in Pristina to evacuate ahead of the parliamentary session, with the police remaining reticent about the reasons for the evacuation.
“We were told to leave due to a potential threat. We are unclear about the situation, but they requested us to exit,” remarked Abelard Tahiri, a member of the Democratic Party of Kosovo.
