We Clearly Lack Something for This to Reach a Higher Level

The Montenegrin water polo team faced a significant setback in their pursuit of reaching the World Cup finals in Podgorica, suffering their second defeat.
In tonight’s match, Serbia triumphed 11:9. The “sharks” mirrored mistakes from earlier tournaments, including the World Cup and European Championship, as well as their previous encounters this week with Georgia and Spain.
A key issue for the Montenegrin national team is the lack of consistent high-level performance.
“We’re repeating errors from last summer. We began to struggle in the middle of the second quarter, and those struggles keep happening. It’s concerning. I felt more positive about the game against Spain than tonight’s, aside from the start. Our performance lacks continuity, especially against these opponents,” coach Vladimir Gojković stated.
At this moment, the struggle for Montenegro to reach the World Cup finals isn’t even the primary concern…
“We were aware that Spain, Serbia, and Greece are currently superior teams. We’re working on building our teamwork. Clearly, there’s something missing for us to elevate our game. While we may not be the strongest individually, there are instances where we perform well,” Gojković added.
Upcoming matches include Australia (Sunday at 17:30) and Greece (Tuesday at 19:30).
“We have two challenging matches ahead. To reach our goal, we must defeat one of these top teams. It’s disappointing that we failed to maintain periods of good performance and capitalize on those moments,” Gojković concluded.
