Vasko Ćeranić, the renowned Montenegrin handball expert from Cetinje, has passed away following a brief illness.
As a player who significantly impacted the sport for decades, he will be fondly remembered as a devoted coach and mentor who nurtured many generations of Montenegrin handball talent.
Committed to Lovćen and his hometown of Cetinje, he worked tirelessly with young athletes, many of whom rose to prominence as national team players.
Ćeranić spent many years collaborating with the legendary Miško Popović, whose name symbolizes Cetinje handball.
This evening, the Lovćen Handball Club and the Mayor of Cetinje, Nikola Đurašković, bid farewell to Vasko Ćeranić.
“Today marks a sorrowful occasion for both Cetinje and Montenegrin handball. Vasko Ćeranić, a man who devoted his life to the sport, has transitioned into both memory and legend. He cultivated not just athletes but remarkable individuals. He was quiet yet impactful, honest but modest, while also being resolute and steadfast. Handball was his life’s calling, and countless individuals from Cetinje will remember him as a coach, a friend, and a trustworthy figure.
