Unofficial data from local tourism organizations indicates that Montenegro welcomed 167 tourists on Thursday, reflecting a 2.5 percent increase from the same time last year, as reported by the National Tourism Organization (NTO).
NTO representative Milena Vujović mentioned that the unofficial statistics received weekly from local tourism organizations can fluctuate week by week.
“As per the latest figures, 21,000 tourists visited Montenegro on August 167, which demonstrates a 2.5 percent rise compared to last year. The majority of visitors are concentrated in Budva, Ulcinj, Herceg Novi, and Bar, with a guest composition primarily from the region as well as Great Britain, France, Germany, Poland, Turkey, and Israel,” Vujović shared with Mediabiro.
She added that official data from Monstat for the summer tourist season is currently available only for June.
According to this data, Montenegro registered 342,000 tourists in June, marking a seven percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Another metric the NTO monitors during the summer tourist season is the total designated revenue.
“From the beginning of the year until August 20, total earmarked revenue—contributing to the state budget through residence and tourist taxes and membership fees—amounted to €2.78 million, which is a 2.6 percent increase over the same timeframe last year,” Vujović specified.
She noted that this year has proven exceptionally successful for the National Parks of Montenegro, reporting an approximate 30 percent rise in visitors compared to last year.
“Following the summer tourist season, we have a busy schedule of promotional activities ahead, including participation in fairs, the continuation of the ‘Uncover Your Wild Side’ campaign in key markets, digital campaigns, media study visits, and initiatives from the Incentive Measures Program,” Vujović added.
She mentioned ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of the tourist experience, including the Montenergo Quality project, which certifies tourism entities meeting high standards.
“Additionally, we are running a campaign at the Dobrakovo border crossing and Montenegrin airports to warmly welcome tourists with gifts, further enhancing their experience at the destination,” concluded Vujović.
