A collective of Railway Infrastructure Company (ŽICG) employees halted train services this morning, urging the Government and the Ministry of Transport to address their issues with management.
Andrej Kaluđerović, a spokesperson for a group of 85 dispatchers and other ŽICG staff, made the announcement.
“We are calling on the Government and the Ministry of Transport to intervene and engage with management to rectify this situation. We are not at fault; it is the management who bears the responsibility. They are making threats of termination and legal actions. We are prepared to retrieve our work documents, but you gentlemen need to manage the traffic,” Kaluđerović stated to the press.
He noted that there are cars and food stuck in the wagons, which is prompting them to take this action despite the suspension of traffic.
Kaluđerović expressed regret for the passengers affected by the halted services, stressing that the fault lies with management, not with the workers.
He affirmed that their roles are critical, evidenced by the current traffic suspension.
Kaluđerović dismissed claims from ŽICG director Marina Bošković about underlying motives, insisting that they are supported solely by their colleagues and families.
He termed the invitation to negotiations as a ruse and declared they would not engage until they received an official communication. He called for the meeting to include group representatives, the Ministry of Transport, the President of the Board of Directors of ŽICG, management, two unions, and members from the Directorate for Railway Transport.
Kaluđerović also refuted the notion that this was a small group blockade, asserting that a larger collective was essential to carry out such an action.
