The non-governmental organization “Association for the Support of Roma and Egyptians” based in Berane has launched a new initiative titled “Education to Full Integration of the RE Population,” which is funded by the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights.
The primary aim of the project is to enhance the social inclusion of the Roma and Egyptian communities in Berane, as stated by the NGO’s director, Sultan Beća.
“The specific goal of the project is to combat all forms of racial or ethnic discrimination against Roma and Egyptian individuals and to improve the accessibility and quality of preschool, primary, and secondary education for these communities in Berane, while also strengthening the skills of the RE population,” he explained.
The project is valued at 19,536 euros.
“Our efforts are conducted in collaboration with educational institutions in Berane, for which we extend our gratitude to the directors of these schools who have provided exceptional support. Notably, we have maintained the longest partnership with ‘Radomir Mitrović’ Elementary School, recognized for its commitment to the education of children from the RE population. Additionally, we collaborate with ‘Radmila Nedić’ Primary School, ‘Vuk Karadžić’ School, and various secondary schools,” Beća noted.
He expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights for their support of the project, as well as to the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, which backs the initiatives of the NGO.
