“Skyrocketing Apartment Prices: It’s Time to Establish a State Housing Fund”
The civic movement URA is set to reintroduce the proposal for the establishment of a state housing fund titled “Housing for All” in the Parliament, as the skyrocketing apartment prices have become intolerable for Montenegrin citizens, stated URA MP Miloš Konatar.
Konatar emphasized that, as it stands, it’s nearly impossible for most citizens to purchase an apartment at current market rates, with the added burden of exorbitant rental prices exacerbating the situation.
“The most viable solution is to create a state housing fund ‘Housing for All,’ which would allow citizens without their own apartments to acquire one on favorable terms, essentially at the cost of construction. URA developed this proposal as a key component of the housing agenda during the 43rd Government of Dritan Abazović,” explained Konatar.
URA representatives plan to once again put forward legislation in Parliament to establish the state housing fund “Housing for All,” facilitating the construction of apartments on state and municipal land that Montenegrins could purchase at construction prices, or under advantageous terms, concluded Miloš Konatar, the head of the URA parliamentary group.
