Former Philadelphia basketball player Lonnie Walker is joining Maccabi Tel Aviv, as announced by the Israeli club today.

Walker (26) has signed a three-year contract with Maccabi.

Acquiring a talent of his caliber in Tel Aviv, a player with experience in the American Professional Basketball League (NBA), sends a strong and clear message about our ambition to compete at the highest level and entertain our fans. The American guard previously played for Zalgiris last season, where he averaged 13.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in the Euroleague.

After playing a total of 19 EuroLeague matches for the Lithuanian club, he moved to Philadelphia in February, where he averaged 12.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.

San Antonio selected him with the 18th pick in the 2018 NBA draft, after which he also played for the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn.

Maccabi coach Oded Katash noted that Walker’s NBA experience, along with his familiarity with European basketball, will be a significant asset for the team.
