American basketball player, James Thompson IV, has joined the Montenegrin champions, Buducnost Voli.
At 30 years old and standing 208 cm tall, Thompson plays the center position and hails from Baton Rouge, the same city as Skylar Mays, who signed with the team the week prior.
Thompson had a standout career at Eastern Michigan in the NCAA, achieving double-double stats throughout all four seasons.
Buducnost stated, “His rebounding ability is his standout quality, having averaged 11 rebounds per game of which 4.1 were offensive. This placed him among the elite in college basketball. Additionally, his shooting accuracy near the basket is remarkable, and he consistently earned accolades for being the best defender in the MAC division during his college years.”
Following his NCAA journey, he played professionally in Italy, Germany, Israel, Russia, France, and China, before joining Buducnost from Leones de Ponce in Puerto Rico, where he concluded the season after playing in Jiangsu.
In the 2023/24 season, he averaged 9.9 points and 7.6 rebounds while playing for Samara in the VTB League, and recorded a double-double last season with an impressive 15.8 points and 10.9 rebounds, according to Buducnost.
