The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MESI) has released a call for student housing in dormitories for the upcoming academic year, providing accommodations for 2,447 university students across eight facilities.

As per the vacancy notice, the Podgorica Student Dormitory has 1,081 openings, while the New Student Dormitory offers an additional 400 spots.

In Nikšić, there are 250 places available in the Nikšić Student Dormitory and 260 in the New Student Dormitory. The Kotor Student Dormitory can house 210 students, while Cetinje has 111 available spots. Berane offers accommodation for 80 students, and the Bar Dormitory has 55 spaces.

Freshmen will have the first opportunity to apply for housing between September 4th and 10th. Applications for students in their second to sixth year, as well as those in two-year master’s programs, will be accepted from September 22nd to October 1st.

Students who are enrolled outside their place of residence and are registered for their respective semester may apply for dormitory accommodation.

“Students can utilize this right once for a designated year of study and educational level. If there are still vacancies after accommodating these students, doctoral students who are not employed and are also studying away from home may receive accommodation and meals at a discounted rate, provided they are registered for their current semester,” the announcement reads.

Freshmen are required to submit a certified copy of their high school transcripts for their third and fourth grades.

“Luča diploma or its equivalent, a certified copy, proof of passing the external matriculation exam or professional test (certified copy), enrollment certificates, proof of residence, a certificate of citizenship, or a copy of the biometric ID card, along with documents evidencing membership in vulnerable groups, are also required, as up to seven percent of accommodation spaces are designated for them.”

The competition outlines that students will be ranked based on a points system established by the Rules.

“First-year students will be evaluated based on their average grades from their last two years of high school, a ‘Luča’ diploma, or equivalent certificates, as well as passing their matriculation or professional exams. For second-year and subsequent students, the sitting success index will be evaluated. First-year master’s students will be assessed based on their average grades from undergraduate studies,” states the competition details.

Students who secure their right to dormitory accommodation and meals must provide a housing reference upon moving in.

“They also need to attach a medical certificate from a recognized health authority, a copy of their biometric ID card, and a signed accommodation and meal contract,” the document specifies.
