Young Water Polo Athletes Face Rivals in European Championship
The Montenegro national water polo team for players under 17 years old has been placed in Group A alongside Hungary, Spain, and Croatia for the upcoming European Championship in Turkey, as determined by today’s draw.
This championship will take place from August 8 to 14 in Manisa, Turkey.
Group B will feature Serbia, Greece, Italy, and the Netherlands, while Group C includes France, Romania, Poland, and Turkey. Group D will consist of Malta, Georgia, Germany, and Ukraine.
The U15 national team, under the guidance of coach Nenad Vukanić, will be competing in Group A against Spain, Hungary, and Italy during the European Championship in Podgorica from July 8 to 16.
In Group B, the competitors are Croatia, Greece, Serbia, and Turkey.
Group C will see Malta, Moldova, Bulgaria, and Lithuania, while Group D features France, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel, the Republic of Ireland, and the Netherlands. Group E consists of Georgia, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Germany.
With the new competition format for younger categories, the top eight teams from both championships will be placed in Groups A and B, where the two leading teams from each group will proceed to the quarterfinals.
The teams finishing third in Groups A and B will face off against the second-placed teams from Groups C and D, while the group winners of C and D will compete against the fourth-placed teams from Groups A and B to secure a spot in the top eight.
In the U15 championship, featuring 26 national teams, groups C, D, E, and F will compete to earn the opportunity to face off against the third and fourth placed teams from Groups A and B in the round of 16.
