The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MESI) has released a call for scholarships for the upcoming academic year for Roma and Egyptian students attending three-year or four-year secondary schools regularly.
The application guidelines indicate that eligible students must not receive scholarships or loans from other institutions or establishments, nor from organizations that are direct or indirect beneficiaries of the Budget. Students must be regularly enrolled in the current academic year, whether in the first, second, third, or fourth year of secondary school (gymnasium, vocational, or mixed) without regard to their overall grade average, maintain good behavior, and, in case of inadequate grades, must attend regular remedial classes at their school. The application period is from October 1 to 31.
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports has similarly announced a scholarship competition for the next academic year for students from the Roma and Egyptian communities enrolled in faculties at the University of Montenegro or at higher education institutions abroad.
This scholarship is designated for students from the Roma and Egyptian communities attending higher education institutions. It can be awarded once per academic year at a specific level of study, and recipients of scholarships from other government ministries are ineligible.
The competition details specify that the scholarship is awarded based on several criteria: applicants must not benefit from scholarships or loans from other institutions or organizations reliant on Budget support, must be full-time students at an accredited university in Montenegro or internationally for the academic year 2025/2026, must not be repeating the same year of study, and must submit a fully completed application form by the competition’s deadline.
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports has announced these competitions in line with measure number 5.18 of the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy for the Social Inclusion of Roma and Egyptians in Montenegro for the years 2021-2025. This aims to enhance the enrollment rates of Roma and Egyptian community members in secondary and higher education institutions.
