Strengthening the Strong Partnership Between Montenegro and Slovenia

Today, the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro for Foreign and European Affairs, Filip Ivanović, welcomed Anžej Frangeš, the Special Envoy of Slovenia for the Western Balkans, for a farewell meeting. They discussed the current political climate in Montenegro and the government’s achievements in advancing necessary reforms for European Union membership, as per the Vice President’s office statement.
Attention was particularly given to the progress of Montenegro’s European integration, highlighting both the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for EU accession by 2028.
“The discussions included regional issues, such as stability in the Western Balkans, inter-country cooperation, and relations with the European Union. Montenegro’s role as a leader in regional European integration was also underscored.
The two leaders exchanged views on significant global challenges affecting regional security and stability, including the impacts on the pace of European integration, especially in the context of the recent Western Balkans leaders’ summit in Skopje,” the statement mentioned.
Frangeš conveyed his appreciation for the collaborative efforts so far and stressed the importance of continuing the strong partnership between Slovenia and Montenegro.
Ivanović expressed gratitude to Mr. Frangeš for his diligent work and notable commitment to enhancing relations between Slovenia and Montenegro and for Slovenia’s ongoing support of Montenegro’s European aspirations, the statement concluded.
