Ensuring Supply Security While Keeping Electricity Prices Stable

Elektroprivreda (EPCG) is proudly celebrating its 115th anniversary today, standing as a liquid, stable, and creditworthy company. Amidst global energy challenges, it ensures a secure supply, keeps electricity prices steady, and experiences growth in both user numbers and regular payments.

“Today, EPCG is recognized as a liquid, stable, and creditworthy enterprise, contributing significantly to the advancement of health, culture, sports, and social life in Montenegro through numerous donations,” the statement indicated.

This year’s anniversary not only reaffirms its century-old tradition but also highlights its determination to move confidently into the future, marked by new major energy initiatives.

EPCG is concentrating on projects that facilitate the green transition, including the development of the Gvozd wind farm, the continuation of the Solari 5000+ program, the ecological renovation of the Pljevlja thermal power plant, and innovative energy storage solutions.

“A recent decision has been made to initiate a public tender for the acquisition of two battery systems with an overall capacity of 240 megawatt hours (MWh). This investment will greatly enhance Montenegro’s electricity infrastructure and further integrate renewable energy sources,” EPCG stated.

EPCG Day, celebrated on August 19, commemorates the significant year of 1910 when King Nikola commissioned the first power plant in Cetinje. At that time, with two 110 kW diesel engines, the power plant illuminated the streets of the capital, marking Montenegro’s entry into the realm of technological advancement.

From the Montenegrin Electricity Company to today’s EPCG, 115 years have passed filled with a rich history and monumental energy projects. EPCG remains a cornerstone of state and societal development, as well as a leader in the contemporary energy transition.

“With the vision of Montenegro becoming part of the European community of nations committed to using exclusively clean energy by 2050, EPCG is dedicated to creating a future where each new generation will enjoy a safer, greener, and more sustainable energy landscape,” the statement concluded.
