Here is the final confirmation of what everyone suspected and some tried to hide – DPS has regained control over Budva, with their loyal allies from SDP and Budva Our City simply facilitating their return, stated Jovana Todorović, a councilor representing the For the Future of Budva coalition in the Municipal Assembly and spokesperson for the Democratic People’s Party (DNP).

There is no doubt, Todorović adds; anyone who even momentarily shows a willingness to oppose DPS will find themselves in the same position as Joko Popović – expelled, removed, and humiliated.

“Popović was part of their ranks as long as he was compliant, but the moment he attempted to assert himself and contribute to the discussion, he was swiftly ousted.

“This reflects the reality of this government – you must either be a compliant figure who signs everything the DPS demands, or you are out. The citizens of Budva can see how meaningless every claim of ‘agreement for the benefit of the municipality’ and ‘technical support’ is. It amounts to nothing,” claims the DNP spokesperson.

He recounts that those who just yesterday insisted there was no coalition and vowed they would never permit the return of those who plundered and disgraced this city have now surrendered everything to them – from positions to control over companies.

“They do this with a smile, as if they believe the citizens have forgotten what Budva was like under DPS rule. It is especially hypocritical to suggest that the most qualified individuals will be appointed to leadership roles, and yet, the Municipal Company and Parking Service have employed DPS officials. Meanwhile, Popović, the runner-up in the selection process with far superior qualifications, is sidelined because he refused to follow the directives of what is now merely a figurehead mayor,” remarks Todorović.

She assesses that this is a blatant display of strength, serving as a warning to everyone still involved not to dare think independently.

“The same hand that ousted him will expel anyone who dares to disagree with the DPS. This government operates under a clear hierarchy: the DPS is the master, and the rest are mere decorations; those who refuse to be decorations are cast aside. This was the case, it remains so, and it will continue as long as these ‘new partners’ in Budva, Our City, and the SDP cling to their posts and remain mute while the DPS issues directives,” she asserts.

“Thus, there’s no necessity for pretense or announcements of ‘program cooperation.’ Budva is once again under the absolute dominance of the DPS, with everyone else merely a testament to how low one can stoop for the sake of holding office,” the statement concludes.
