Andrija Petanović, who was arrested, is being held for up to 72 hours following interrogation, as informed by the Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT) to Vijesti.
“The suspect AP was taken into custody and presented before the special prosecutor, who, after interrogation, has ordered his detention for a maximum of 72 hours from the moment of his arrest, due to indications suggesting a flight risk,” stated Vukas Radonjić, special prosecutor and SDT spokesperson.
Earlier reports confirmed that Petanović was apprehended at Podgorica airport today.
The SDT is investigating him for cigarette smuggling.
According to Vijesti’s sources, he was handcuffed by agents from the Special Police Department (SPO).
Petanović’s arrest occurred around 4 p.m.
He is believed to be affiliated with an organized crime group (OKG) led by detained security guard Duško Golubović and Sander Stanaj from Tužana.
The SDT alleges that members of this criminal enterprise, since its formation and throughout its operations, include: Nuo Stanaj, Abedin Pepić, Andrija Petanović, Vukota Vujošević, Đoko Lješković, Mileta Simanić, Adnan Suković, Ivan Turčinović, Predrag Madžgalj, Veton Berišaj, Prokopije Perić, Dejan Milić, Radoje Dakić, the late DV, and several other unidentified individuals.
According to communications intercepted from the previously protected Sky application, the multi-member criminal organization could not have functioned without Golubović or Sander Stanaj.
Decoded messages among clan members suggest they played crucial roles in this illegal trade, with a Tuzanin acquiring cigarettes and delivering them to the port of Bar, while a senior police official illicitly exported them from the Free Zone.
Petanović is identified as the owner of the “Petanović” pharmacy.
