An aircraft from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is scheduled to arrive in Montenegro today, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MVP), highlighting that this assistance in combatting the fires underscores the spirit of international solidarity.

The Ministry expressed gratitude towards all international allies, local agencies, and citizens whose significant efforts have been instrumental in extinguishing the fires affecting various regions of Montenegro recently.

“In the field, alongside local forces, specialized units from Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Hungary are operating,” stated the Ministry.

Their expertise, equipment, and solidarity are described as invaluable support to Montenegro during these trying times.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted the crucial role of the air force, whose helicopters and planes facilitate firefighting efforts in hard-to-reach areas.

“Assistance from the UAE has also been confirmed, with a plane arriving in Montenegro today,” the statement elaborated.

The Ministry emphasized that this incident reinforces international solidarity in practice, and collaborative efforts showcase the strength of friendly relations and partnerships across Europe, the region, and beyond.

They expressed appreciation towards the countries and teams that swiftly answered the call for support.

“We also convey our deep respect for all local services—firefighters, members of the Montenegrin Army (AVCG), police, and volunteers—who selflessly strive to safeguard citizens, their properties, and our nation’s natural resources,” stated the Ministry.

Moreover, the Ministry paid homage to the tragically fallen member of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, Dejan Božović, whose sacrifice serves as a poignant reminder of the commitment required for joint action.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will, according to this government body, maintain continuous communication with international partners and relevant institutions to ensure comprehensive support and coordinated efforts until the fires are entirely controlled.

“Montenegro remains steadfastly committed to nurturing good neighborly relations, regional cooperation, and international solidarity, the importance of which is especially highlighted during such times,” the announcement concluded.
