Police in Podgorica arrested a 24-year-old individual, PJ, after discovering cocaine during a search of his apartment and vehicle. Additionally, marijuana and speed were confiscated from another individual, NR, aged 23.
According to the Police Directorate (UP), officers from the Regional Security Center ‘Centar’ conducted a search of PJ’s apartment and his Peugeot vehicle based on a court order. In the vehicle, officers discovered 38 small PVC packages containing approximately 95 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine.
The prosecutor was notified of the situation, leading to PJ’s arrest on suspicion of unauthorized production, possession, and distribution of narcotics.
During the same operation, police also detained NR, 23, and found a package of plant material believed to be marijuana weighing around 46 grams, along with a smaller package suspected to contain amphetamine – speed.
A statement was taken from NR, and the prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica was alerted. Subsequently, NR was tested for psychoactive substances, which revealed no criminal activity; however, a misdemeanor report will be filed for breaching the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse.
“The Police Department will persist in its efforts against street drug sales and the overall battle against this pressing issue, aiming to ensure citizen safety and health while fostering a secure community,” concluded the UP statement.
