The High Court Council has affirmed the indictment against four members of the Kavak criminal organization: Radoje Živković, also known as Žuti, Ratko Živković, known as Zemo, Milan Vujotić, and Zdravko Perunović. They face charges of forming a criminal group and the aggravated murder of a fellow clan member, Ljubomir Lainović.
“The Higher Court Council in Podgorica, per decision Kvso No. 10/24 dated April 29 this year, has confirmed the indictment Kt-S No. 21/24 from May 28 of last year filed by the Special State Prosecutor’s Office against the defendants: R.Ž., R.Ž., ZP, and MV, for the offenses of forming a criminal organization and committing aggravated murder in complicity,” stated the Special State Prosecutor’s Office.
They elaborated that the indictment was made due to reasonable suspicion that in June 2020, within Montenegro, Serbia, and other European nations, defendant Radoje Živković orchestrated a criminal organization, which included defendants R.Ž., ZP, MV, and others with the intent of committing murder and aggravated murder.
“He then decided, out of malicious intent, revenge, and greed, to take the life of a fellow criminal organization member, the injured party Lj.L., as there was a likelihood that, if arrested by the police, he would disclose details about the murders of members from rival criminal groups. Accused MV consented and instructed which of the defendants would carry out the murder and for what monetary reward, along with how to erase the evidence of the crime. Subsequently, accused R.Ž. drove the injured party to a forest near the village of G., municipality D., misleading him into thinking they would practice firearm shooting there, where accused ZP fatally shot him. Following this, both accused disposed of the victim’s remains in an improvised grave and buried them, informing the organizer through encrypted communication at the time. The accused R.Ž. received a monetary reward of EUR 400,000.00 in Serbia through an intermediary,” reported the SDT.
