Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) aim to strengthen their collaboration in defense and security, focusing particularly on joint operations during emergencies, according to defense ministers Dragan Krapović and Zukan Helez.
As reported by the Montenegrin Ministry of Defense, Krapović hosted Helez for a working visit today.
The ministry indicated that the ministers met with the flight crews from the Air Force of the Army of Montenegro (AVCG) and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who have been working together to combat significant wildfires in Montenegro recently.
“Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the relevant agencies, the Armed Forces of Montenegro, international support, as well as favorable weather and rainfall last night, the fires have been extinguished and the situation is now under control,” the statement read.
Krapović expressed gratitude to BiH and Helez for their prompt and tangible support during this challenging time for Montenegro.
He highlighted that the solidarity and backing from Montenegro’s partners reinforce the idea that any crisis can be effectively managed through collective action.
Krapović also conveyed his pride in the bravery and commitment of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, who, alongside their counterparts from other agencies, made extraordinary efforts to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.
“His counterpart from BiH expressed pride in the fact that the Armed Forces of his country have stood by Montenegro during these trying times,” the statement mentioned.
Helez noted that the helicopter crews from the Armed Forces of BiH worked in unison with their Montenegrin counterparts to tackle the fire, emphasizing that the safety of citizens and the preservation of nature transcend national boundaries.
This collaboration, he added, underscores the vital importance of solidarity and interconnectedness among regional countries.
“Both ministers reiterated their commitment to continue enhancing cooperation in defense and security, particularly in joint emergency operations, to more effectively address future challenges,” the statement concluded.
