Over the last six months, police officers have carried out 2,335 searches of individuals, vehicles, residences, and other locations. This extensive effort aims to combat various forms of crime and ensure public safety, as reported by the Police Directorate.

“To safeguard citizens’ lives, prevent violence, and confiscate illegally held weapons, ammunition, and explosives, we have conducted searches of operationally significant individuals, members of organized crime groups, and citizens potentially misusing weapons. In the first half of the year, we confiscated 771 weapons, 202 explosives, and 36,021 pieces of ammunition,” the statement revealed.

The criminal police conducted 1,415 searches of residences, individuals, and vehicles, resulting in the recovery of 400 weapons, 202 explosive devices, and 13,923 pieces of ammunition of different types and calibers.

“General police officers performed 870 searches of dwellings, individuals, and vehicles, leading to the discovery and seizure of 346 firearms and 18,982 pieces of ammunition. Additionally, officers from the Border Police Sector conducted 50 searches, seizing 25 weapons and 1,268 pieces of ammunition,” the report added.

As part of the “Respect Life, Return Weapons” initiative, it was noted that as of June 24, a total of 3,707 weapons, 123,266 pieces of ammunition, 421 hand grenades, and several hundred weapon components and explosive materials have been returned.

“These efforts reflect a coordinated response from law enforcement agencies to address security threats, including the activities of organized crime members and individuals of operational interest, demonstrating the police’s dedication to safeguarding citizens’ lives and safety, as well as enhancing public trust,” the announcement concluded.
