Coach Ivica Jevtić celebrated his first official win while leading the Montenegrin volleyball team.
His squad triumphed over Norway with a score of 3-1 in their final match of the European Championship qualifiers held in Kolašin.
“This is a significant victory for us. It’s crucial to end on a positive note after numerous defeats in the Golden League and the loss to the Czech Republic in the qualifiers. Winning changes everything when you head into the break,” Jevtić remarked.
Before his tenure began, Montenegro faced near elimination from qualifying for the European Championship, making this win essential.
“This victory is meaningful to me as a coach, and it’s also important for the players who have put in immense effort in every practice. It was evident how challenging these defeats were for them. Ultimately, winning brings smiles back to their faces,” Jevtić added.
Vukašin Cimbaljević played a pivotal role in securing the win with an outstanding performance.
“We redeemed ourselves in the end. We told ourselves before the match that we wanted to perform our best, regardless of the outcome. We knew how hard we had worked for this, and luck had not been on our side in the Golden League with numerous injuries. However, we are improving year by year and preparing for whatever lies ahead,” Cimbaljević stated.
