Young “Lionesses” Halted at the Finish Line, Set to Compete for Bronze at the European Championships
The women’s cadet handball team is set to compete for the bronze medal at the European Championship taking place in Podgorica.
Unfortunately, the young “lionesses” suffered a defeat against Slovakia with a score of 29:27 in the semifinals, but they will have the chance to secure the bronze medal this Sunday.
The match held at the “Bemax Arena,” witnessed by around a thousand spectators, was decided in the final ten minutes when the Slovak team executed a 7:1 run, transitioning from a tied score of 20:20 to an unassailable 27:21.
Martina Knežević had an outstanding performance, leading both the offensive and defensive plays, scoring 13 goals. Although it wasn’t enough to secure a victory, her efforts earned her the title of the best player of the match. Additionally, Andrea Jovanović contributed with five goals, while Jovana Tešović, Anđela Vujović, and Sofija Delević scored two goals each.
Goalkeeper Maša Dubljević made eight crucial saves, while Mia Vuksanović added four saves to the tally.
On Sunday at 17:00, Montenegro will face the loser of the matchup between Spain and Croatia.
