A quiet period envelops Budućnost following yet another resignation.

The officials at the Podgorica club are expected to make an announcement tomorrow after head coach Nenad Lalatović decided to “set sail” shortly after the loss to Arsenal, just weeks after he claimed he wouldn’t have joined had he known the circumstances.

Thus, Lalatović’s tenure lasted merely 28 days, which clearly stirred little emotion among the club’s management, whose structure is influenced heavily by political ties.

This resignation comes as no shock; it’s routine at a club where such events seem to unfold almost daily.

Following the contentious appointment of Dejan Damjanović as sports director in early May, there was a complete overhaul of the key personnel managing the sports team—everyone except the players were replaced.

The executive director, Novak Novaković, was dismissed, president Boško Kovačević stepped down, a new board was instituted, and two coaches exited—the most recent being Lalatović, following Ivan Brnović.

Damjanović has emerged as a local figure, which illustrates the unfolding narrative at the club.

A farce, or perhaps a tragedy for the most devoted fans, is what this centennial sports team has devolved into this year.
