Budvani: Champions of Montenegro
Younger water polo athletes from Budva, born in 2010 and later, have emerged as the champions of Montenegro.
The Budva team outperformed Jadran in a thrilling two-match final.
During the group stage, Budva and Jadran secured the top two positions in their competition against Primorje, Verde, and Mladost from Bijela, each playing four matches.
Jadran had a previous victory over Budva in the group stage, winning 8:7.
However, in the first final match held at home, Budva took a commanding lead, finishing 11:5, highlighted by Matija Franeta’s stunning performance with six goals.
The rematch in Herceg Novi saw Jadran winning 12:8; nonetheless, Budva retained a six-goal advantage from the first match to clinch the title.
Franeta contributed effectively again in the second match with two goals, matching Jovan Abramović’s tally.
In the Jadran squad, Uroš Sijerković stood out with three goals.
In the playoff for third place, Primorac triumphed over Verde in both encounters, with scores of 6:2 and 9:6.
