Youth National Team Ends in a Draw Against Azerbaijan

The Montenegrin under-21 football team achieved its second draw during the friendly matches held in June.

Last night, in Baku, the Montenegrin team faced Azerbaijan, resulting in a scoreless tie, 0:0.

Previously, three days earlier in Istanbul, they played Turkey, which also ended in a draw at 1:1.

Coach Goran Perišić expressed that the Montenegrin players underwent another significant test ahead of the September qualifying matches.

“In Baku, I opted to give starting opportunities to players who had less playtime against Turkey. I believe we were the superior side, but unfortunately, we couldn’t convert several scoring chances. It’s evident that we need more creativity in the midfield, but I am confident that will improve before the qualifiers begin,” Perišić remarked.

He also noted that he would have access to talent from the promising generation of 2006.

“While we recognize that the June schedule is challenging due to the conclusion of a long season, we are pleased with our commitment and the players’ eagerness to represent the national team. The players put in maximum effort in these two matches,” Perišić added.
