The Montenegrin national basketball team has completed three test matches, facing France, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Greece. These games have demonstrated that Boško Radović’s squad is prepared to compete at the European Championship, despite being somewhat short-handed.

Now, the team is gearing up for its fourth test match, the sole one held in Montenegro. Tomorrow at 16:30, Montenegro will host Israel, another team participating in the upcoming continental tournament, at the “Topolica” in Bar.

“We can take pride in our performance over the past three matches. We are accumulating valuable minutes and while some areas remain challenging to improve, we aim to address these through the remaining friendly matches and training sessions,” noted coach Boško Radović.

Radović emphasized that Israel represents a similar challenge to those teams Montenegro will face while striving for a spot in the knockout stage of the championship.

“Our fourth friendly match is against Israel. They present an unusual challenge, akin to teams like Sweden, Finland, and Great Britain. This match comes at a strategic moment, as the opponent differs from our previous rivals in the preparation phase,” the coach elaborated.

Vladimir Mihailović will be absent for the match against Israel, having also missed the game against Greece.

“The boys are in good health overall, but we have a slight issue with Vladimir Mihailović, concerning his foot. He will also miss this match. We are aiming to ensure he is fit for the match against Turkey, or at least ready for the European Championship to provide support then,” stated Boško Radović.

Andrija Slavković has expressed satisfaction with the preparations thus far.

“We are preparing effectively and with purpose. Our tests have been solid, and we believe we are headed in the right direction for the championship. Although Israel may appear to be a stronger team on paper, given our diminished roster, we will enter the field with full energy and a strong desire to win,” Slavković stated.

Post-match with Israel, Montenegro will take on Turkey on August 22nd, before heading to Tampere.
