“Concerns for BiH: Musa’s Status in Doubt for Eurobasket”
The national basketball player of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Džanan Musa, has undergone surgery for an abdominal wall injury, leaving his participation in the upcoming European Championship in doubt.
“We would like to inform the public that Džanan urgently traveled to Munich two days ago due to abdominal pain, where it was determined that he needed surgery, performed by Dr. Ulrike Mušavek, a leading specialist in the field. The doctor’s prognosis is positive, and Džanan is expected to return to Sarajevo tomorrow after his surgery. He is currently recuperating in Munich,” stated Musa’s team, as reported by Sport klub.
Musa’s team also mentioned that all actions were coordinated with the medical teams from both the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team and the Dubai Basketball Club, for which the Bosnian guard signed this summer. The club in the UAE “responded swiftly and demonstrated exceptional professionalism.”
“Džanan has expressed his strong desire to do everything possible to leave the door open for a potential appearance at the upcoming European Championship, reflecting his deep commitment to being with the team in Cyprus. However, his participation remains uncertain,” the statement concluded.
A former MVP of the Spanish league and a member of the EuroLeague All-Star Team for the 2022/23 season, Musa previously played three seasons with Real Madrid before joining Dubai.
The European Championship is scheduled to take place from August 27 to September 14 in Latvia, Poland, Cyprus, and Finland, with the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team set to compete in Group C in Limassol alongside Spain, Greece, Italy, Georgia, and Cyprus.
