Vidaković to Compete for IBA International Title in Herceg Novi This Saturday
Zvjezdan Vidaković, a professional boxer hailing from Herceg Novi, is on a determined path toward achieving his aspirations. On Saturday, August 16, 2025, he is set to compete in his 16th professional match for the IBA International title in his native town, facing off against German boxer Deniz Altz. With this bout, Zvjezdan aims to clinch the IBA International belt and secure a place among the top 100 boxers worldwide.
Vidaković anticipates an “atmosphere to remember” on the day of the fight, believing that his fellow citizens will witness a significant sporting event and an impressive spectacle where he will strive to showcase his abilities and claim the IBA International belt that he feels is rightfully his.
“I believe I’ve thoroughly prepared with my team, who stood by me throughout, led by coach Aleksandar Nikolić at the Red Star Boxing Club located at Marakana Stadium. I am also grateful to my sparring partners and friends: Milorad Mićo Gajović from Nikšić, Alen Babić from Croatia, and Dilan Prašović from Herceg Novi, who will join me in the ring on Saturday. My Balkan Boxing team, managed by president Nenad Borovčanin, played a crucial role in supporting me with the logistics that define a top athlete’s journey,” Vidaković shared with Novski portal.
Additionally, Aleksandar Saša Petković, the director of Balkan Boxing, has “transferred invaluable skills from Germany to the Zvjezdan team, propelling them onto the global stage.”
“I’m feeling fantastic; my recent comeback with a match in Croatia two months ago laid the foundation for this. I was scheduled to have a match in Germany, but I had to cancel due to the short notice—I didn’t want to risk an injury by competing in back-to-back matches,” he explained.
Vidaković acknowledges that Saturday will present yet another challenge, as he will face the younger German fighter, Deniz Altz, who has competed in several high-stakes matches, including the WBC Asian title.
“Regardless of the length of the journey or how exhausted we might be, we must give our all and reach the finish line. That embodies the spirit of perseverance!” declares Vidaković.
As a reminder from the organizers, he is a multiple national champion, a junior champion of Yugoslavia, and a senior champion of Serbia and Montenegro, boasting around 200 amateur matches to his name.
In his professional career, he holds the titles of WBC Mediterranean champion and WBU world champion, and since 2015, he has been ranked 39th on the WBC world list in Baku.
“His professional record is remarkable, with 15 fights and an undefeated streak of 15 wins, nine of which were by knockout. He is nationally recognized as a top athlete in Montenegro, establishing him as a prominent figure in the sport in this region. A proud father of five sons, he sees boxing as his gift to be repaid once more to the sport, the people of Novalja, and all those who will cheer for him from the sidelines as he competes for such a prestigious title,” the organizers announced.
