Setting aside her cherished colors and the club where she achieved remarkable success may not have been the farewell she envisioned, but Milena Raičević bid adieu to Budućnost with heartfelt words.
The iconic handball player and the Podgorica club mutually agreed to terminate their contract today.
“The future will always hold a special place in my heart, like my home, and I want to express my gratitude for over 20 years of shared sports battles,” Milena conveyed on Instagram.
The captain requested a mutual contract termination to facilitate her transfer to another club, following the Buducnost Bemax Board of Directors’ decision to send her to the Rudar branch in early November, after she had filed a lawsuit against the club for unpaid wages from the 2020/21 season during her pregnancy.
“Today marks the beginning of a new challenge for me, and I want to take this moment to thank everyone who supported me during this difficult time for my family and myself. I hope to repay you with my performance on the field and look forward to achieving new sporting milestones with my new club,” Raičević added, although she did not disclose her next destination.
In her closing remarks, she reflected on the club where she took her first steps in handball and wore the jersey for most of her career.
“Budućnost always deserves the very best, and you will have a loyal supporter in me, wishing that the new management attains even greater success in both sports and business. Go Budućnost, and thank you once more,” Milena wrote.
