France has emerged as the new world champion in handball.
In a thrilling final held in Herning, Olivier Krumboltz’s squad triumphed over Norway with a score of 31:28, securing both Olympic and world gold medals.
The first half showcased explosive handball, with an incredible 37 goals scored.
France maintained its lead, with the youngest team member, 20-year-old Lena Granvo, stepping up during crucial moments to help defeat the reigning champions with key goals.
Granvo netted five goals, matching Tamara Horacek’s performance, while Nora Merk was the top scorer for the losing team with eight goals (including seven penalties), though she made several critical errors towards the end.
France’s dominance is underscored by the fact that they defeated Norway twice during this championship, having previously won 25:24 in the group stage.
Their last loss was to Montenegro in the bronze medal match at last year’s European Championship.
Denmark clinched the bronze with a victory over Sweden, while Montenegro finished in seventh place.
