The police in Podgorica have apprehended VB (28), who is suspected of being involved in usury and extortion.

According to the Police Directorate, VB is believed to have committed usury by lending an amount of 2022 euros to an affected individual in 2023 and 7,000 euros, thereby securing an excessive financial benefit for himself.

“During the specified timeframe, masquerading as ‘usury interest’, the perpetrator extracted a total of 43,690 euros from the victim, thereby unlawfully enriching himself. Additionally, VB attempted to extort 15,000 euros by threatening the victim, which leads to the suspicion of extortion,” the statement elaborated.

The UP noted that VB has been referred to the acting prosecutor along with a criminal complaint for further handling within the legal timeframe.
