Azerbaijan, Turkey, the Czech Republic, and Sweden will host 24 of Europe’s top teams next summer, and for the first time, the Montenegrin volleyball team may join this prestigious stage.

Our national team senses an unprecedented opportunity to qualify for the European Championship, and clarity could come after today’s match in Goražde, where the team, led by Jovo Caković, will face Bosnia and Herzegovina at 19:30 PM.

Due to issues within the opposing federation, Montenegro secured an official victory (3:0) against them nearly a year ago, similar to Latvia’s experience. However, just four days ago, Bosnia and Herzegovina demonstrated their skill by winning 3:2 in Riga.

– We studied that match; Bosnia and Herzegovina proved they are a formidable team. We’ve been preparing by analyzing video footage of that game, knowing we face a challenging task – noted Caković.

In addition to their prior victory, Montenegro managed to earn a vital away point against Latvia, aiming for a historic entry to Eurovolley in Goražde and on Sunday in Kolašin against the Baltic squad. The winners of seven qualifying groups, along with the five best second-placed teams, will make it to the continental championship.

– I anticipate a tough match and demand utmost discipline from my team on the court. We need to build each point patiently and as a unit. We have undergone serious preparations, and I trust that all players will give their all – Caković added.

Unfortunately, due to an injury sustained during the last training session ahead of the trip, the national team will be without Danijela Džaković, who will be unable to assist her teammates until the qualifiers conclude.

– We are confident in ourselves and are boldly moving forward to take the next step – stated captain Nikoleta Perović.

– We are hopeful for victory, but we are aware that underestimating our opponents is not an option, as we face a team that knows how to play and can catch us off guard.

The Montenegrin women spent about thirty days preparing for these crucial matches, including friendly games against Hungary.

– The team atmosphere is positive; we feel ready and are approaching the match with great enthusiasm. Our preparations have been thorough, and the test matches against Hungary were invaluable in showing us areas for improvement – emphasized the captain.

Coach Caković can rely on the following players for the upcoming matches: Marija Šušić, Tijana Tvrdišić, Simona Petranović, Teodora Čavić, Gordana Madžgalj, Darja Popović, Nikoleta Perović, Nevena Vukčević, Saška Đurović, Mina Dragović, Katarina Budrak, Lana Rakočević, Melisa Cenović, and Ksenija Krunić.
