The Montenegrin women’s basketball team is set to compete against Switzerland tomorrow in Aarau for the penultimate, fifth round of European Championship qualifiers.
A win against Switzerland would greatly enhance the Montenegrin women’s chances of qualifying for their eighth consecutive European Championship.
“We are facing a crucial cycle and recognize the significance of this match. We have tried to make the most of this short period. We defeated Switzerland in Herceg Novi, we know what to expect, and we aim to win, although it won’t be an easy task,” said forward Bojana Kovačević.
So far in the qualifiers, both Luxembourg and Montenegro have the same record in Group H (three wins and one loss), while Switzerland has two wins and two losses, and Bosnia and Herzegovina remains winless in four matches.
Montenegro previously defeated Switzerland 85:61 in the first qualifying round.
“We are excited to come together as a team again. There’s always an incredible atmosphere within this group, and we are eager to demonstrate our capabilities in these decisive matches and reclaim the European Championship title. We understand that a lot has changed since our last match against Switzerland, but this game holds significant importance for us,” remarked a player from the Israeli Hapoel team.
The match in Aarau is scheduled to begin at 19:30 PM. In the final round, Montenegro will take on Luxembourg in Bar on Sunday.
