The LGBT Forum Progress and the Social Center have issued a strong condemnation of the recent attack on photojournalists from the Vijesti and Pobjeda news outlets, who faced violence and serious threats while carrying out their professional responsibilities in Gornji Zaostar.

According to a statement from the LGBT Forum of Progress and Social Center, this incident represents not only an assault on individuals but also a significant threat to media freedom and the citizens’ right to receive truthful, impartial, and timely news.

“It is imperative that all media professionals are guaranteed safety to perform their roles without hindrance or fear, as only a free press can foster transparency and accountability in society,” the statement emphasized.

The organizations urged relevant institutions to respond promptly, ensure the protection of journalists, and hold accountable those responsible for this incident through legal action.

“At a time when the media’s role is more crucial than ever, it is vital that institutions clearly affirm their intolerance for violence against those serving the public interest,” the statement concluded.
