After 158 matches in its history, Montenegro has its first goalscorer born after the independence restoration in 2006. Andrija Bulatović marked his debut for the national team with a historic goal against Armenia.

This year, our nation celebrated 21 years of independence on May 19, and this exceptionally talented midfielder will turn 27 on December 19.

Vasilije Adžić, who also debuted and scored in the match against Armenia (2:2), was born in 2006, just a few days before the referendum on May 12.

Bulatović has also become the second youngest scorer in the history of the “Falcons,” finding the net at just 18 years and less than six months old in Nikšić.

The only younger player to score before him was Luka Đorđević, who scored on his debut against San Marino in September 2011 at the age of 18 years and two months (6:0).

Before then, the youngest player to score for our national team was Stevan Jovetić, a Montenegrin football legend, who netted in a friendly against Hungary in Budapest in August 2008 at 18 years and nine months (3:3).

Interestingly, when the current Falcons captain scored that goal, Bulatović was just one year and eight months old, and when Đorđević scored, he was merely five years old.

The midfielder from Budućnost, set to join the French side Lens this summer, surpassed Jovetić during the match where the captain broke the record for most appearances for the Montenegrin national team with 87.

This match commemorated a promising future for Montenegro, characterized by the young talents who will don the “Falcons” jersey in the coming years, alongside the legendary captain guiding them in the right direction.

These two budding stars of Montenegrin football have recently made history in the younger categories, leading the youth team to its first major competition, and they continue to showcase their talents among the “Falcons.”
