Caution: Phishing Attacks Aimed at Social Media Users
We are alerting the public about an ongoing phishing campaign on social media, where scammers are impersonating a well-known retail chain to distribute fraudulent messages regarding a prize giveaway.
In these communications, recipients are informed they have been chosen as winners of a significant prize and prompted to complete a registration process to claim it. The link included in the message redirects to a counterfeit website, where users are asked to provide personal information such as identification and contact details to receive the prize.
We strongly encourage users to stay cautious and follow these recommendations:
- If you encounter a similar message, do not engage.
- Carefully examine the URL, as phishing sites often use slight variations of legitimate domain names.
- Do not click on links found in suspicious messages.
- Avoid opening links from dubious messages on social media platforms.
- Do not make payments on questionable websites.
- Pay attention to the message’s content, as phishing communications often contain spelling or grammatical mistakes.
Please be aware that legitimate institutions or companies will never ask users for confidential information or to submit documents via SMS, email, or social media.
