Marović Family Declares Beach Access Will Be Blocked in Protest of Ramp Demolition

An excavator from the executive service of the Municipal Inspection in Budva has demolished a ramp next to the Marović family’s home, despite strong objections from family members who assert that it belongs to them.

This ramp is situated at the eastern end of the beach, and the Marović family claims they have faced ongoing harassment regarding the alleged road, which they insist is their property that has been wrongfully appropriated by the state.

Kristina Marović shared with “Vijesti” that the ramp is located on a road historically owned by her family, which the state has taken over without legal justification.

She highlighted that their family possesses almost 20 square meters of land along the beach.

“That plot is currently in court registration, and according to both the PUP and the DUP, the road does not officially exist. Accessing this disputed ‘road’ requires crossing private property. Today, utility services entered that private property without notice or a valid order and began demolishing the ramp. This action seems to be an attempt to distract from the upcoming demolition of an illegal karting center that has been operating without a permit for years, and is reportedly owned by individuals linked to certain political circles,” Marović stated.

“After four years of persistent harassment by the tenants beneath our restaurant—who have subjected us to threats, public defamation, and even threats of violence—I, Kristina Marović, the daughter of the property’s owner, will take action to secure my father’s property. Access to Jaz beach through that land will no longer be available to tenants or visitors. Perhaps this will prompt the state to act within the law rather than serving the interests of individuals operating outside it,” she added.

Marović further mentioned that the Municipal Inspection did not intervene when the river near their home was being filled in.

The Municipal Inspection informed “Vijesti” that the decision to demolish the ramp is final and has been confirmed by the chief administrator following an appeal.

As stated by Marović, the inspection will also remove the advertisement for their restaurant.
